Wilfred J. A. "Squeak" Charette, who was born November 14, 1936, passed away May 9, 2010, at his home in Tampa. Among his many achievements, he was one of the original Golden Knights, serving 11 years in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Amy Charette.
In June 1964, he was named as monitor for FAI and PCA (now USPA), accompanying the Marine Corps High Altitude Parachute Record attempts (Day and Night), operating from MCAS Cherry Point, NC, dropping onto Ft Bragg, NC. Using a Marine KC-130 aircraft, altitudes of 44,600' day and 44,100' night were achieved.
After leaving the Army, Wil spent 34 distinguished years with the CIA.
Wil Charette, D-90, was a member of Pioneers of Sport Parachuting.
